THE TOURNAMENT


FIFA RULES APPLY TO ANY RULES NOT ADDRESSED IN THIS DOCUMENT. SITUATIONS OR OCCURRENCES THAT THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS SHALL BE LEFT TO THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE TOURNMENT DIRECTOR.
 

PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must be registered on their team’s 3V3 roster or 4v4. Roster changes, substitutions and additions, must be made before the start of a team’s first game. Any team or player determined by the event director to have falsified age or skill level will be dismissed from the tournament. Players must have player identification card to verify age.

 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Seven is the maximum number of players on a team; three/four field players and three substitutes. Three/Four players are on the field at a time. Minimum number of players on the field is three. There are no goalkeepers.

 

PLAYERS WAIVER: All players (with no exception) must sign a waiver before entering the arena.

 

NUMBER OF COED PLAYERS: At any given time, there must be at least two (2) female player on the field during coed competition.

 

PLAYER SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions may be made at any dead-ball situation, regardless of possession. Teams must get the referee’s permission and players are to enter and exit at mid-field. There are no substitutions on the fly.

 

PLAYER EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play.

 

PLAYER “KITS”: All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play and each team must bring both a light and dark colored jersey/shirt. If both teams are wearing the same color in the pool-play round, a coin flip will determine the team to change uniforms. During playoffs the seeded team will determine preferences. Numbers on jerseys are not required.

 

PLAYER EJECTION (RED CARD): Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending the player off. The team may then continue with their remaining players, however if the player receiving the red card was in the field of play, the team must complete the game with only three players on the field. The tournament director will decide suspension from additional games.
 


FIELD DIMENSIONS: 49' 21" x 32' 80"  (15m x 10m)

 

PENALTY BOX: Arc Rule: There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box, however, any player may pass through the goal box. If the ball comes to rest in the goal box, a goal kick is awarded regardless of who touched the ball last. Any part of the ball or player's body on the line is considered in the goal box and is an extension of such. If a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a penalty kick is awarded to the offensive team. If an offensive player touches the ball within the goal box, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team.

 

SEEDING: Teams will be seeded according to the information provided on the entry form. SoccerXtreeme / Impact Zone will schedule teams according to ability, age and experience.

 

BALL SIZE: Regulation Game Balls (size 4) will be issued by the tournament staff. Youth age groups (Under 8, and 9/10) will use a size 3 ball.

 

GOAL SCORING: A goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. Ball changes possession after a goal is scored.

 

RESTARTS: All restarts are indirect kicks (including the kick off to start each half). This does not include Penalty Kicks, which will be direct.

 

KICK OFF: Is an indirect kick and may be taken in any direction.

 

THREE (3) YARD RULE: In all dead ball situations, restarts, including game start and halftime start, defending players must stand at least three (3) yards away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal area is closer than three (3) yards, the ball shall be placed three (3) yards from the goal area in line with the place of the penalty.

 

KICK-INS: The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in. Defending player must be at least three yards from ball on all kick-ins.

 

GOAL KICKS: May be taken from any point on the touchline, and not in the goal box area.

 

THROW-INS: There are no throw-ins. All out of bounds balls will be taken as “kick-ins.”

 

PENALTY KICKS: A penalty kick will be taken from midfield front of an open goal. Per the Arc Rule, there will be no defending player/goalie contesting the penalty kick. All non-kicking players must be behind mid-field. A penalty kick shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction (the infraction does not automatically result in a red card). This is a dead-ball kick. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick.
 


COMPETITION FORMAT: First round consists of a minimum of 3 games in a round robin format. Championship round is single elimination.

 

GAME DURATION: The game consists of two 12-minute halves separated by a two-minute half-time period. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie except in the playoffs. At the discretion of the referee and the tournament director, a game will be forfeited if both teams are not present at game time. The present team will be awarded a win; the absent team will take a loss. Teams are responsible for waiting until their seed for playoffs has been determined. There are no time-outs in 4V4 or 3V3

 

SCORING (IN POOL PLAY): Games will be scored according to the following: 1 goal = 1 point SOCCERXTREEME RULES scoring specifics. Winner is determine based on total goals scored.

 

PLAYOFFS: The playoff rounds are single-elimination

 

TIEBREAKERS: For teams that are tied in record, if one team forfeited a game, they are the lower seed. In pool play, ties between teams will be broken by: 1) head to head result 2) point differential 3) goals for; 4) goal against; 5) coin flip.

 

PLAYOFF OVERTIME: Shall consist of a 5-minute sudden death “golden goal” overtime period, with a coin toss to decide kick-off direction. The first team to score in overtime is the winner. If no team has scored in the first five-minute overtime period, additional five-minute overtime periods will be played until a winner is determined.

FORFEITS: The opponent of a forfeiting team will be granted a 3 point. A 5 minute grace period allowance will be enforced prior to declaration of forfeiture. Any team forfeiting two consecutive games in pool play will be removed from the tournament. Any team forfeiting a game in playoffs will be removed from the tournament.

 

PROTESTS: No protests allowed.

 

FAIR PLAY: Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to act in the nature of “Fair Play” at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Abuse of opponents will result in red card. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event

 

SCOREBOARD: The scoreboard will be displayed in the format of the 2005 SOCCERXTREEME XTREEME RULES Bracket Board. The scoreboard will show the entire tournament and allow players and fans to watch details that make Soccer Xtreeme so unique; when goal differential will decide a tiebreaker, a game takes on new meaning. The scoreboard will become a great on-site gathering place, the hub of all playing field attention.
